The Borley Rectory Hauntings | True Crime Sleep Stories

The Borley Rectory Hauntings – True Crime Sleep Stories episode cover

Welcome back to 31 Nights of Frights on True Crime Sleep Stories. Tonight's episode is about the Borley Rectory, and it is a ghost story with a dash of possible true crime. If you grew up reading old ghost books like I did, Borley was always in there, usually with that grainy photo of the big brick house and a caption calling it the most haunted house in England.
What I love about this case is that the more you read, the less it's about a ghost and the more it's about people. You've got a Victorian minister with fourteen kids. You've got his son, who apparently loved telling the story. You've got a new minister and his wife who just wanted a job and ended up with reporters camped on their lawn. And then you've got Lionel and Marianne Foyster, which honestly could be its own episode. A sick older husband writing down every bump in the night, and a young wife who, it turns out, had a whole second life no one knew about. And of course there's Harry Price.
Harry is really my favorite sort of story character, and he makes me forget that this is actually a TRUE story, not fiction.
